In this role you will work within our Digital Robotic Automation Centre of Excellence, which specialises in the provision of Robotic & Intelligent Process Automation for the Defra Group, with the aim of unlocking the untapped potential within our people, teams, and services.

The Digital Robotic Centre of Excellence Service Manager is a pivotal role that enables smooth, efficient and effective management of the service. The role focusses on enhancing Digital Robotic Automation Centre of Excellence’s operational efficiency, involves designing and implementing bespoke reporting solutions, utilizing data-driven insights to inform strategic conclusions, and presenting clear and concise communications across the DEFRA Group. The role is critical to the efficient running of our operation acting as the right-hand person for the Operations and Delivery Manager post. The role also involves filling in for the Operations and Delivery Manager post when required.

Responsibilities
- Deputising for the Operations and Delivery Manager where appropriate.
- Provide key management information concerning Finance, Performance, Licencing and Resourcing. Ensuring systems are in place to monitor, analyse and present this data in a way that can be used to make key service judgements.
- Ensure an effective working partnership with DEFRA Group “Automation Champions” through the provision of simple reports.
- Lead and facilitate Agile Scrum teams for the successful delivery of robotic and intelligent automation solutions.
- Monitor project progress, identify and address issues, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
- Provide key management information that allows for efficient service governance.
Skills and experience
- Data Analysis and Insights: Ability to leverage data analysis techniques to extract actionable insights, empowering stakeholders with accurate information for informed decisions.
- Problem Solving: Comprehensive knowledge in addressing operational challenges promptly, identifying root causes, developing solutions, and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence. Problem and Situation analysis skills with ability to effectively and constructively challenge decisions.
- Financial Oversight: Expertise in managing all financial aspects, including budget allocation, resource allocation, and cost tracking, ensuring optimal resource utilisation and adherence to quality criteria and regulatory protocols.
- Strategic Communications and Reporting: Proficiency in delivering communications that distil complex data findings into understandable insights, effectively conveying recommendations and project updates to stakeholders across the organisation.
- Forecast Modelling: Experience in developing and maintaining advanced forecasting models, providing accurate projections to inform resource allocation and future planning aligned with organisational targets.
- Excellent self-organisational and time management skills: enabling you to manage multiple activities often under high pressure and to short/urgent time scales.
